Grime enigmas Mumdance and Logos continue their fruitful collaboration with their debut LP, switching Keysound for the earth-shuddering rep of Pinch’s Tectonic label in the process. Techno and DnB certainly cast their shadows over this release, but it’s the off-kilter stomp of footwork and grime that really frames these tracks. ‘Legion’ is all frenetic hand-claps and floor-shaking 808 boom, building to a huge and menacing jungle bass climax which harks back to Kryptic Minds classic ‘The Truth’. ‘Proto’ begins with a deceptively simple 4/4 beat but soon morphs into something altogether stranger and more complex - lurching post-dubstep, submerged in a roiling pit of reversed bass drums, writhing and looping back on themselves like pythons swallowing their own tails.
