LA producer John Tejada returns to Cologne’s Kompakt Records with his third full-length for the label, more than two years after his album The Predicting Machine and with a handful of pop-infused 12“ singles for Kompakt, Slices Of Life and Palette Recordings in between. The first foretaste, ‘Y O Why’ is comprised of celestial synth work with melancholic melodic progressions. With Tejada crafting his delay- and patch-infused productions analogue tape style, on the verge of disintegration, it’s no surprise they remind us of the organic explorations of James Holden at their best. Hardware only suits him well.
