Dutch producer Boris Bunnik debuts on his Transcendent imprint with the aquatic techno of the Travelogue EP. Following fellow countryman’s Hexagon’s Dualism EP, this is the label’s second white label release. The productions excel in their subtle shifts, Bunnik skilfully displays repetition in all of its nuances. Travalogue is built around an atmospheric mood with floating synths and resonating percussive elements, creating the illusion of space as they reverberate. The A side has a biding feel to it with its plucking and dripping leads. On the flip, the shimmering synth waves of ‘Coast To Coast’ are confronted with the deeply rooting, seething subs of ‘Zero Five Eight’, bringing the EP to its dialectical end.
