Anthony Naples finally goes all out and drops his hugely anticipated LP 'Body Pill' on Four Tet's Text imprint. Having first emerged in 2012 with the slinky deep house groove of his 'Mad Disrespect' 12" for NYC based Mister Saturday Night Records Anthony has gone onto catch the attention of all the right people in the years since. His mixture of late night house vibes with a side of tough techno experimentation have led him to release on labels as highly lauded as Will Bankhead's Trilogy Tapes label, Glaswegian institution Rubadub's occasional 'Rubadub' 12" series & of course Four Tet's 'Text imprint which presents this his debut album. Picking up where his recent TTT 12" and his off-kilter hardcore remix of Special Request. 'Body Pill' is a highly cohesive body (excuse the pun) of work taking in elements of 80's post-punk funk on album opener 'Ris' through to the disco-leaning strings of 'Abrazo' and the ambient doodlings of 'Way Stone'. Elsewhere there is some of the finest experimental house and techno this side of L.I.E.S. with 'Refugio'. The LP is a fine balance between his signature sound of house and techno and more experimental pieces showing the influence of artists such as Aphex Twin & Arthur Russell; a strong debut LP from a producer on the outside looking out.
