Düsseldorf’s Salon Des Amateurs resident Lena Willikens debuts on Matias Aguayo’s Coméme Records with a dark and chunky EP. Titled Phantom Delia, the record takes obvious inspiration from Delia Derbyshire and the Radiophonic Workshop, - a homage that becomes most apparent in the eerily seething title track, thickly layering analogue-style synths. The EP takes its other cues from the corner stones of industrial and techno; her noticeably annoyed sounding spoken word vocals in German, yes we’re being insulted as “stupid hippos with no sense of direction” (‘Nilpferd’), only add to the beautifully kaputt atmosphere.
