Having previously only been available on the 1983 cassette release 8 New Songs By Mick Hobbs, Life At The Water’s Edge is a landmark in the tapestry of modern art-rock. Musically, the instrumentation sounds unshackled but regimented. Mick Hobbs’ vocals meander in and out of earshot giving glimpses at his idiosyncratic lyrics. The song is theatrical but honest and a truly unique piece of pop music.
