Fresh from spending a year solidifying the name of his 1800-DINOSAUR collective off to dance music’s ever turbulent landscape, James Blake is capping off the year with the limited release of this 4-track instrumental offering which is testament to his exploratory nature as a producer. 200 Press (take the hint on how limited this release is) is a polyrhythmic masterpiece and Building It Still sounds more fit for Blake’s own vocals as it employs the downtempo tropes fans have come to expect. Whether or not this release is a glimpse of Blake’s future output, it cements his status as one of the most enduring forces in contemporary dance.
