With the original soundtrack from Cliff Martinez, as well as five of the stand-out songs including Kavinsky & Lovefoxx’s ‘Nightcall’, Desire’s ‘Under Your Spell’, Collage featuring Electric Youth’s ‘A Real Hero’, Riz Ortolani featuring Katyna Ranieri’s ‘Oh My Love’ and the Chromatics’ ‘Tick of the Clock’, Invada reveal a vinyl edition of one of the most impressive soundtracks we’ve heard recently. Nicolas Refn Windings’ ‘Drive’ was a slick LA noir that moved with an air of icy cool no doubt buoyed on by the pivotal role that the film’s music was allowed to play and the dedication to a purely synthetic resonance. A new sound for Martinez, that of the analogue synth, the soundtrack perfectly references the 80s nostalgia and brooding atmosphere of the film. Essential.
