Though not a sequel to Peel, arguably KMRU’s breakthrough record, Kin is the yang to Peel’s yin. Construction of Kin’s walls of sound began not long after Peel’s release, yet paused following Peter Rehberg’s death as a new weight accumulated in the shivering reflections and fiery, anguished throbs of its sonics. Partially inspired by his early explorations with guitar, it sets up perfectly for a crossgenerational collaboration with Fenneszon ‘Blurred’ where glacial sweeps hoover up momentary stutters, presenting a sharper texture to KMRU’s signature field recordings as the lulling arpeggiated buzz of ‘With Trees Where We Can See’ whistles with distortion and swells with jagged, frictional beauty.
