Sandwell District have been on a stellar run throughout 2025 after dropping their long awaited second album End Beginnings, a reminder of just how vital they were to the techno scene of the 00s/early 10s. A deluxe edition is well deserved, appending enigmatic demos and heaving remixes. Icy reverberating snaps chill the atmospheric acid of ‘Restless (Stripped Mix)’, matching the subterranean growling sirens and synth echolocation of ‘Self-Initiate (Harm Mix)’, trudging and tunnelling till it sees the glorious light of new track ‘Forbidden’ with swathes of texture and fractured beats snaking beneath drilling yet tiptoeing rhythms.
