For a producer still finding his sonic and creative footing, this is perhaps the closest we have come (so far) to hearing Floating Points’ magnum opus. The opening composition is a carefully constructed work where acidic synth melodies and rumbling, beat which - when it eventually arrives- buffers in to gear and creates one of the most rewarding dance floor crescendos in recent memory. Its partner-track, Nectarine is a similarly slow-burning affair where an infectious synth melody upholsters the sun-kissed vocals of Rahel from London’s Hejira. Helping to define the sound that the DJ sets of Floating Points make so hard to define, this duo glistens with honest ambition and airtight execution.
