The Emperor Machine turn up on Norman Cook's Southern Fried Records for this funk-laden slab of party bass. Ahead of a full EP next year, Pop The Lid features on the Like A Machine album. Led by an alternate edit, which jams with thrilling slapped bass, the package features some great remixes. First up is New York disco house maestro Jacques Renault, who also turns in an appropriately deep dub. El Diablo's Social Club Remix, meanwhile, evokes early LCD Soundystem with its clanking groans before lifting off into proper disco chug territory.
