Celebrating the 30-year anniversary of the release of their revered 1993 LP Painful, New Jersey indie rockers Yo La Tengo deliver a deluxe, extended reissue entitled Extra Painful. For many, Painful is the high water mark in the band’s wide span career, remembered fondly for its clash of dreamy soundscapes and fuzzy guitar riffs. Opening piece ‘Big Day Coming’ lulls us in with its ethereal melodies and soft vocals, then giving way for upbeat, catchy hooks on ‘From A Motel 6’.
