After last year’s full-length The Ways We Separate, Brooklyn electronic duo Beacon return to Ghostly International with a light and effortless EP: L1 naturally flows in sharp minimal arrangements, with Thomas Mullarney’s falsetto voice leading the way through the spacious productions. Nothing sums up the EP better than its title track: reverberant and crystal clear synth work meets Thom-Yorke-ish vocals and delicate drum machines, referring to the point in space where a satellite can fall in synchronous orbit with the earth around the sun, caught between the two gravitational pulls and never falling out of sync. Beacon’s beats encompass digital perfection in the most positively connoted way.
