Continuing their winning streak of retrospective archiving, RVNG are celebrating the work of French music producer Ariel Kalma. They have pieced together a mass of his work from the 1970s and created a collection of recordings that range from soliloquies to early experiments with drum machines and synthesisers as well as freeform jazz cuts. The globetrotting nature of Kalma’s life story can be heard on this release as Indian raga motifs play against a myriad of other releases. The compilation triumphs as both a revelation and a reintroduction.
