Chasing Unicorns welcomes Dutch producer Steve Mensink who debuts on the London imprint using his new Felix Lenferink moniker. Following previous efforts for Heist Recordings and Delsin Records, The Same Species Occur references recent developments of the UK bass and house scene, which makes him a perfect candidate for the Chasing Unicorns roster and also fits in well with his scheduled full-length on Wolf Music, another UK electronic music label. Mensink fuses fragmented broken beats with bassy arpeggios and pitch-bended vocal samples. Each track on The Same Species Occur conveys a different atmosphere, displaying the producer’s sense of structural and sonic variety.
