Glasgow-based producer Sad City reappears on Phonica’s Special Editions label arm, chasing up his beautiful debut EP You’ll Soon Find That Life Is Wonderful with the Introduction To Lisboa / Sloe 12”. Here, Sad City continues to explore a wide emotional spectrum whilst employing a broad suite of field recordings, capturing the subdued hubbub of the Portuguese capital on the opening piece before shifting into the fragile brushes and polished synth gloss of ‘Baixa Saxophone’. ‘Scyphozoa’ lifts us to higher realms of consciousness with its dream-like arpeggios, followed by the tempered ethereal beats of ‘Apricot’ and the more pensive melodies of ‘Sloe’.
