Glaswegian duo Happy Meals have found a middle ground between evocative minimalism and trigger happy synthpop on Apero which triumphs on every single track. With Anglo-Francais lyricism and woozy melodies, cuts like Visions Of Utopia and Altered Imagery are perfect soundtracks to sundown. With flashes of sturdier bass lines dipping in and out throughout, Apero is the product of mixed influences and a clear vision. There are as many glimmers of Glasgow’s clubbing scene as there are glimmers of dreamlike psychedelica but Happy Meals manage to meet the worlds effortlessly.
