Brownswood boss Gilles Peterson resumes his Bubblers series with its eleventh instalment. The compilation series sets out to showcase underground talent from around the world. Previous episodes featured artists such as Floating Points, Jamie Woon and Flying Lotus, proving Peterson’s sense of emerging new artists, and his eleventh selection emphasizes this all the more. London’s Al Dobson Jr who amazed us with an excellent album on Bradley Zero’s new Rhythm Section imprint this summer contributes one of his pleasing lo-fi productions of bongo drums and analogue synth vibes. Woodstock beat producer Photay is featured with the stunning single from his debut on Brooklyn’s Astro Nautico, and songs like Moonchild’s ‘The Truth’ are an obvious statement of Brownswood’s jazz-inclining nature.
