Blank Mind label boss Sam Purcell teams up with the extremely talented and proficient Eugene Ward, often known as either Tuff Sherm or Dro Carey, to form Mirrors. The Trialone release sees them get dark and nasty with four snarling techno workouts. 'Trialone' lifts off like a 747, thudding bass lines slamming against sliding whizzes and thundering percussion. The wild distortion of 'Trialtwo' belies a sense of frivolity, a devil's grin haunting the proceedings. The third workout enters manic footwork-tempo territory, albeit favouring a lightly manic style of percussion alongside its floating synth lines, while the final entry opts for stilted organ stabs and shimmering white noise and clamorous bass kicks.
