Bleep Upfront Exclusive
Following up his 2009 Prime Numbers LP System, Linkwood returns back to his original and well-respected Firecracker home with a staggering triple 12” offering of cosmic house goodness that oozes class from every crevice. Throughout the piece, Expressions balances comatose melodies and interludes with acutely textured deep house orientated statements, opening with the string-laden, cosmic strings of ‘Sonrise’ and stormier textures on ‘Outside In’. Linkwood makes us wait until ‘Object’ to unleash the first ‘floor friendly bomb, which is a driving construction of pure heads down thump offset with gorgeous melodic static, whilst ‘Tier 5’ employs a similarly dubby approach with dizzying chords that sound right out of Vakula’s playbook. The producer’s use of atmospheric intermissions provide perfect moments of respite, for instance the analogue grit of ‘Minus 12’ and metallurgical radiance on ‘Coral’ allow the piece of interstellar broken dub ‘Reef Walking’ and pulsating 8 minute plus expanse of the glorious title cut that extra impact. By the time we land on the closing piece ‘Love Lost’ we’re sold; with tender, considered percussion supporting lush, muffled textures creating dreamscape vibrations all around and with the standard exuberant Firecracker design aesthetics, we have an LP that will be revered for years to come.
