Parisian label inFiné presents us this odd and intriguing listen from Arandel. By their own admission Arandel is neither band nor character, merely an anonymous project, a vessel for music. That said, this is some wonderful music. Solarispellis is made up of a number of Sections, each of which covers different terrain. The 'Opening Section' hints at sci-fi other-worldliness; 'Section 7' is mellifluous yet melancholic, something like Air remixed by James Holden. 'Section 11' is riotous fun, cascading electronics dancing about like fireflies. 'Section 10 (1st & 2nd Movements)' is grand and elegiac, shimmering movements dancing about like 70s prog rock at its height. It's not quite "something for everyone", yet anyone could find something to love here.
