Promising Manchester-based producer Acre makes his debut on Pinch’s long running Tectonic imprint with his Icon’s EP. Offering a distinctly diverse mood on each of the four cuts, the release opens with the slashing, clattering chaos of ‘Ping’ which casually traverses between slick drum fills and harder textures whereas ‘Blue Moon’ is a alien-esque reductionist effort. More ethnic temperaments feature on ‘Icon’ where some fidgety finger drumming is eventually joined by throbbing bass jolts whereas ‘Reload’ wraps things up with its warped, dub-laced aura.
