Prolific UK label Soundway Records showcase their roster of currently active artists on a comprehensive compilation. In an attempt at rethinking the genre term world music with all of its connotations, the imprint focuses on embracing multi-cultural combos from the global musical underground. This includes the works of East London producer DrumTalk who fuses house and bass music with West African rhythms, or Lisbon’s Batida who mixes Kuduro and Benga with The Clash samples. This eclectic approach extends to groups such as Fantasma who display the full sonic range of South African influences.
