Jim Coles aka Om Unit described this project as “a nod to the sound of my teenage self” and the nostalgia laced through it is impossible to ignore. With the help of Metalheadz bossman Goldie’s archive of DATs and samples, Om Unit collects inspiration from bass music, footwork, jungle and UK hip hop (look out for Jhest’s syrupy flow on The War) to create an 8 track EP that looks forward as much as it does back. By echoing the broad-based ethos of his label head, Om Unit brings through a release of vitality, fresh ideas and character.
