Detroit electro godheads Dopplereffekt marks 30 years in the business with a new EP on Berlin techno mainstay Tresor Records entitled Metasymmetry. Improbably the duo’s debut on the storied meagaclub’s imprint, Dopplereffekt pull nearly every tool from the box here, moving from frenetic, almost Escher-like sound design to piston-firing dancefloor detonation to spectral yet placid ambience, sometimes within the same tune. The metasymmetry as it were points to the EP’s sequencing as the first side mirrors the second: one that will get bodies moving followed by one for the chill out (or living) room.
