Originally released over twenty years ago on Our Choice and Rough Trade, Rawax drop a welcome reissue of Atom Heart’s classic Milagro EP. Uwe Schmidt, the German mastermind behind the Atom Heart alias, has been a pioneer of electronic music since the early eighties, and the tracks collected on this timeless EP are evidence of an artist in full control of his medium. Schmidt blends slick proto-house with a pared-down techno swagger, and whether it’s the writhing 303 bass loops on ‘Opacitiy’ or the jaunty stylophone funk of ‘As She Left’, there’s no doubt the sounds here will be rocking dance floors just as hard today as they did back in the heady days of the early nineties.
