After releasing one of the standout LPs of 2013 in Hinterland, Bavarian producer Recondite joins up with ever-present imprint Innervisions for his third LP entitled Iffy. Employing his identifiable emotional touches, Recondite manages to conjure up some of the most surreal and shadowy atmospheres whilst always maintaining sight of the ‘floor. ‘Baro’ gets us underway, rolling out a moody bass notes with the groove running through to detuned melodies on ‘Levo’. On ‘Buteo’, a distilled percussive base provides the scaffolding for an array of refracted synth notes; ‘Konter’ is a little less restraint and offers a blinding string breakdown whilst ‘Jim Jams’ wraps things up with its wistful downbeat touches.
