More than a decade after the label’s foundation, Hotflush boss Paul Rose aka Scuba kicks off a compilation series that sets out to document its comprehensive sound history. The Formation Years takes us back to the period between 2003 and 2006, when John Peel started playing dubstep on his radio show, and Scuba started releasing his first own productions – being heavily influenced by the scene around the club night FWD>>> that coined the genre’s name. Featuring works from his London colleagues Distance and Slaughter Mob, Toasty and Eric H, it displays the progression of the label’s first years into the genre and beyond.
