Setting out to showcase his taste as a DJ and record collector, Django Django drummer Dave Maclean launches his new Kick + Clap imprint as a sub-label of Because Music: focussing on vinyl, their inaugural release comes fellow Scot Neil Landstrumm. With nine albums for labels such as Planet Mu, Peacefrog or Tresor, Landstrumm is considered a techno monolith, and on Knights of Shame he presents Chicago-styled rhythm and synth work. The acid melodies and stuttering vocal samples of ‘I Can’t Keep Up With The Ghost Plumber’ were actually created in collaboration with The Ghost Plumber – and Berlin-based Bill Youngman makes a guest appearance as well.
