Live and Destroy is the debut album from French duo Minuit Machine – and perhaps also the title of a scrapped Bond film. Helene de Thoury and Amandine Stioui began collaborating in 2013 after touring together and realising they shared a mutual love for 80s minimal wave. de Thoury’s cold and stark electronic melodies are at once ghostly and symphonic as on the soaring ‘Alienation’ and chilling ‘Sabotage’. Stioui, meanwhile, contributes a steely but rousing vocal performance that never becomes overwhelmed by the harsh backing.
