Balarama EP is the latest instalment of Henrik Sundh aka Dodebum. The Copenhagen-based producer debuted on PG Sounds this summer and has maintained a busy release schedule since then, with the Balarama EP being his third outing in 2014. His experimental productions put the focus on texture and dynamics, accordingly showcased on the EP’s title track: what starts out as a quiet ambient theme in the distance emerges into a dense, trance-infused pattern caught up in its own parallel rhythms and melodies. Twister entangles its stumbling musical motives in similarly deceptive manners, and the utterly fragmented closer functions as a reminder of Sundh’s fascination with breaking conventions of structure and form.
