After causing a stir with the head-turning Ghost Town EP on True Panther Sounds, South Africa’s rising kwaito house star DJ Spoko teams up with Lit City Trax for an extensive, debut full-length release. The 20-track strong War God LP exhibits various avenues of DJ Spoko’s self-coined ‘barcadi house’, with each cut pushing a lively amalgamation of infectious synth bass, melody and gritty drum backing. On ‘Motota Mutapa’, Spoko injects some deft hand drumming to the quaking bass jolts resulting in a swinging monster that’ll own the ‘floor, meanwhile ‘Mshongoville’ fuses old school Chi-town jack to Soweto groove.
