Rene Hell, Driphouse and Nimby, the three-headed dance collective known as Cuticle, reassemble with their most fully-realized project yet on the excellent Not Not Fun label. After establishing their forte on prior releases, the trio really stretches out here, unhurriedly constructing and dismantling richly textured house tracks in a variety of flavours. They imbue ‘Pidgin Tongue’ and ‘Geometric Narrative’ with metallic tones and alien synths, and ‘Gobba’ pulsates with jungle-themed percussion. ‘Antigogglin’ and ‘Pageant’ feature quirky micro-rhythms, while ‘Faberge Tear’ and ‘Beg To Exist’ are better suited for the floor, with their hypnotic 4/4 grooves and analogue synth gloss.
