First of a two part series, Italian producer duo Mephisto Frequency Oscillator put out Future City Traffic – Part 1 on the Dutch electronic label Dekmantel. After previous releases for Italian Early Sounds Recordings, the Future City Traffic series sees Rio Padice and Massimo Di Lena deliver rich deep house tunes. ‘Anti Social Plan’ kicks off with a soulful bass line and floating percussion. ‘Slow Run in Our Dreams’ develops around a polyharmonic piano sample and a dazed vocal fragment. ‘Crisis Zone’ strikes a drier note with a stripped back drum skeleton and staccato 8 bit sounds, rounding out the release’s dynamic atmosphere.
