After starting a Kickstarter campaign to produce the Machinewerks CS X51, South Yorkshire monoliths The Black Dog have now created a full EP showcasing the potential of this controller and presented it to their backers first. Dust Science now officially release the four tracks fully created, mixed and mastered using the Sheffield-made MIDI controller which has been co-developed by members of the group. Aiming at displaying the range of production possibilities of the device, the Werk + Play EP covers a variety of genres and forms: 'Theme For The Socialist Republic Of South Yorkshire' is a cinematic opus composed of piano and string sounds; 'Wrong Pocket' nods to dark wave, whereas 'Atavistic Resurgence' sees the group apply their tried and trusted techno method, playing with percussion build ups, caesuras and drops.
