After a debut album on Dominick Fernow’s Hospital Productions and an EP last year on Opal Tapes, Italian producer Shapednoise returns with this 12” for Russian Torrent Versions. Shapednoise continues to draw on the overlap between noise and techno, with opener ‘The Existence of A Vital Reality’ merging propulsive rhythms with razor sharp synths. ‘Phase’ brings in an undercurrent of electronics, barely audible under the pummelling kick drum, and ‘Illumination’ combines grinding noise with waves of ominous synth.
