A thrilling year for London's Astro:Dynamics continues with the apocalyptic tones of Sophia Loizou's Chrysalis. Loizou, a Bristol-based sound artist and composer, fashions a bleak and ominous world across these six tracks, a heart-rending journey through the deepest recesses of emotion. Taking compositions for flute, cello and voice and feeding the recordings through a variety of software tools, Loizou makes the organic synthetic, adding layer upon layer of distorted noise so as to bury that singular beauty beneath, creating a mighty feedback loop of terror and wonder.
