LA’s Juan Mendez aka Silent Servant teams up with Oliver Ho’s Broken English Club for a split release on Minimal Wave sub label Cititrax. The release entitled Violence and Divinity explores both of the producer’s similar interests in EBM infused techno, with Silent Servant dominating the A-side with ‘Speed And Violence’ – a muscle-bound construction of mechanical synth bass and string and the similarly menacing ‘Cut Unconcious’. On the otherside, Broken English Club’s ‘Divinity’ drops the pace for a wonky journey complete with odd vocals and a cowbell whilst ‘Delay’ serves up a helping of feedback for something a little tougher on the ears. Recommended for fans of Front 242, CH-BB and 400 Blows.
