San-Francisco-based producer Roche debuts on the local label Icee Hot with a throbbing EP. After previous releases on Mathematics and 100% Silk, Depths / Seers sees Roche putting his Detroit influences in clear appearance. The A-side takes all the time it needs to evolve from a bare rhythmic frame into a dense, hands-in-the-air dance floor winner with twirling synths and animating vocal sample fragments. On the flip side, Roche starts out with dry, merciless percussion that gets taken away by a stylish bass line, tripping its way through the song in different pitches.
