Leeds producer Craig McNamara has built up a sizeable following with his releases as Last Magpie for Hypercolour and its sister label Losing Suki. For his latest EP, She Won’t Let, he shifts between jungle and garage influences. On the menacing title track, a brooding bassline jostles with skittish breakbeats and heavily delayed vocals. ‘Chicken Shop’, though not particularly evocative of its title, does nevertheless serve up chest-rattling sub-bass. ‘Initial’, meanwhile, takes a different turn, experimenting with modular synths and muffled dub.
