Brooklyn-based producer Aquarian returns to New York’s UNO NYC to let off his latest floor-minded EP. Even more so than 2012’s Obsidian, his self-titled follow-up splices genres with no regard for scenes or trends. ‘SOMA’ most closely resembles hard-nosed techno infused with rugged drum breaks, while ‘Artifact’ reproduces early 90’s rave stylings, just slowed by about 25pm. ‘Before I Forget’ and ‘Event Horizon’ are harder to categorize, twisting and subverting UK bass and industrial techno. London’s Throwing Snow also chips in a typically prismatic rework of ‘SOMA’.
