Lars Stöwe returns to his Anno Stamm moniker for his first EP on Berlin-based Macro Recordings: with the hard stomping techno on Aqua / Lemon Peel / Violet EP, he takes his uncompromising sound to the next level. Having produced for Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons and the Dublin’s All City, he strips down his songs even further compared to these earlier releases: in the beginning it is always just the punching, slightly distorted bass drum, patiently waiting for the synths to take it away. It’s the bold production and his emphasis on the beat that make the friendliest harmonies sound intriguingly scary.
