Melbourne duo Legendary Hearts make their official debut courtesy of Not Not Fun. Guitarist Kieran Hegarty and synth player Andrew Cowie combine to craft a sound that, while drenched in reverb and other narcotic effects, is often outright pretty. The culprit is Cowie’s moody synth-work on stuttering opener ‘Vanishing Point’ and the propulsive, techno-edged ‘Terminal B’, while Hegarty’s splashy guitar are front and centre on ‘Acceleration’ and ‘Distance & Desire’. On standout ‘Night Flight’, the two lock in over bouncy eighth-note hats, the kind of sonic melange that Not Not Fun is known to produce and the pair’s newfound fans will surely be checking for.
