Elusive Berlin producer Marquis Hawkes makes his debut on Creme Organization with this EP of worn-down house tracks. Hawkes’s rough-at-edges aesthetic is very much evident on the degraded and compressed percussion of opener ‘Tunnel’ and ‘Prince Among Men’. ‘Sofa Acid’, as its name suggests, takes inspiration from Detroit, mixing 303s with an unsettling looping vocal sample. While ‘October Blues’ gives Hawkes the space to mess around with technicolour synthesiser arpeggios.
