Caterina Barbieri and Bendik Giske are two artists who make clay of their instruments and build sculptures from their music practices, malleable to every end. Their crossing was arguably fated; having constructed a thrilling language of live performance with each other since 2021, it’s now made concrete on their debut collaborative album At Source. The dialogue between synth, sax, and body is a fluid and symbiotic one, screeching and sparkling in tandem, buoyant and delicate, spiky and puncturing. Clipped synths flicker while saxophone keys stomp and march, slowly seeping intertwined melodies and permutations in an impossible, gorgeous mesh.
