Pender Street Steppers’ Jack Jutson enriches the Mood Hut catalogue with another solo release, this time as just Jack J. The producer is one of the core members of the Vancouver collective, and with this 12" he does justice to their distinctive street-soul house vibes once again. Warm synths welcome a seductive spoken word sample and carefree guitar melodies in ‘Looking Forward To You’. ‘Take It To The Edge’ explores deep house territory, its bass grooves working gently with oscillating synths. The lightly slapping guitar adds a bit of funk to ‘Something On My Mind’, and its warm feel is rounded off nicely by relaxing saxophone tones.
