The tirelessly prolific Roman Flügel turns Happiness Is Happening, only his third album (his second for Dial). Rooted in electronic music from across the decades, it shows Flügel at his contemplative and heartfelt best. The playful electronics of 'Friendship Song' are as wistful as they are emotive, just as 'Your War Is Over' hints at a bright dawn after a dark night. A sort of synth pop edge runs throughout, evidenced beautifully on 'Wilkie', but this is just one outspoken element of a glorious statement from this peerless artist.
