You get the sense that Jordan Juras’s PVAS project doesn’t take place in regular spacetime as the tracks on Slipstream constantly gyrate and defy expectations. Sputtering into existence, the overpowering bass murmurs of ‘Gathering Drift’ map out unreal space, introducing a torrent of liquid, mutated club styles where electro is agitated with steam hiss, and jungle is delivered in deceptively deconstructed layers of clanging micro rhythms, squeaky glitches, and disembodied breakbeats. Surrendering to the unknowable path of life, Juras’s vocals are viewed beneath the surface ripples of the title track’s endlessly trilling synths, as he refracts electronic sounds through his own unique prism.
