The Bug and Ghost Dubs channel the sub-heavy legends of Chain Reaction, On-U Sound through to Deep Medi, Jah Shaka and King Tubby as they trade blows on Implosion, a new split album following Michael Fiedler's debut on Kevin Martin’s PRESSURE label in 2024.
In their new joint release they swap alternating spots on the tracklist, challenging each other as in a sound system clash (“You call that bass?”) constantly upping the ante and lowering the frequency.
Slow, sludgy dub bass saunters and drills with distortion, producing intense murmuring wobbles caked in noise and tripping sirens with the power of the vibrations. Festering with gravelly texture, these tracks turn down a more minimal route, as patiently ticking rhythms sift through the ruckus.
